Nappy BOY is one such artist that epitomizes the essence of the modern era. He is a multi-talented vocalist and Afrobeats/Hip-Hop Artistborn in Lagos Nigeria and raised in Lagos, Johannesburg, South Africa and London. Nappy BOY is making music that is driven by a desire to motivate, inspire, comfort and spread love and joy to all those that hear it.
Nappy BOY is the embodiment of originality and uses his experiences and musical acumen to create an amalgamated and original sound. Nappy BOY has had a vast array of musical influences however he accredits the pivotal influences and inspiration in his life to Fela, Burna Boy, Jay-z, La Capone, Lauryn Hill and Future. This all culminates in Nappy BOY producing a musical experience that is enjoyable, easy going but also authentic and grounded in reality. It is music that is relatable to people and infused with positive energy to allow for an immersive experience that brings feelings of elation and happiness. His overarching ambition is to create something that’s different unique and memorable. He is also a graduate of Computer Science.
Nappy BOY has multiple projects in his repertoire namely “She Didn’t know” (2019), “Mona Lisa” (2019), “Friends Are Bad” (2019), “Many Things” (2020), “Put it in Me” (2020), “Whine that ting” by Bella Shmurda (2020). He also has a notable collaboration with the African Giant Burna Boy on a song dubbed “AYE” ft. Burna Boy (2019). He will be releasing his debut EP dubbed “Life N Style” that will showcase his lyricism in a uniquely constructed piece of musical artistry. His sound exhibits his versatility and prowess and will surely cement his style in Alternative Afro music as well as pave the way for the varied expressions of his musical ideas and artistic craft. This is the music that will push the boundaries of our perception as well as inspire and drive us to introspective conversations. Music has needed a new message for a long time and now it is finally here! As long as artists like Nappy BOY exist and his story and voice is heard then this is the music that may not change the world, but can change the people in the world.
